We are at the end of 2007 and organizing the website to assure the Barganing Unit we are alive and well. The web site has been dormant because of deployments and no input from the different sections. We are attempting to do better by this notice from the President.

There has been numerous calls about members getting a contract to read. Each supervisor is obligated to provide one when it is asked for. Bargaining unit Technicians can get one printed at their work place or read portions their interested in on workplace computers. We haven't approached the LRS yet but eventually we expect to see every Technician who wants a personal copy of the contract being issued a hard copy, and new hires to receive one at new employee orientation.

Performance appraisals are still an issue but it has gotten better. If a Technician feels their performance rating is missing or was not realistic contact a Union representative. Technician active duty, and violence in the work place is being addressed. Violence in the work place still carries a ZERO tolerance policy issued by the Adjutant General. Technicians wanting to go on active duty need to start by informing the first line Supervisor.

Communicating with the membership via this web site is becoming most important as a quick information vehicle and we are making it easier for the web guy to update. We encourage you to call us if there is anything specific we can help you with or you want to get more active in the organization.

We will be having officer elections in 2008 and nominations are scheduled to start in January. Only dues paying members are eligible to participate in the nominationing process or serve in an elected position. Technicians with 20 years service should begin preparing to submit packets to a retention board scheduled for March 08. The last QRB cost us 32 Technicians being non-retained for their
guard positions.
